Dave Carlson is the Founder and Managing Director of eonCapital. Dave established eonBusiness in 1997 to meet the needs of start-ups and early development stage companies for building Internet based businesses. He has founded five businesses with three successful exits to date while supporting dozens of other companies. While eonBusiness started as primarily a web development services organization, it transitioned to an incubator and then subsequently a boutique venture capital firm investing in software as a service (SaaS) and mobile opportunities, named eonCapital.
Dave is actively involved as an advisor to numerous eonCapital portfolio
companies. He also currently serves on the board of directors of mobileStorm
Dave also serves as a Mentor to the TechStars
mentorship driven seed stage investment program.
In 2001 Dave founded and incubated GO TOAST
and subsequently started eonMedia in 2002. Both companies were acquired in 2003 by aQuantive which was acquired by Microsoft
in 2007. Other personal startups include eonBusiness, AllAboardToys.com
(acquired in 2008) and HomePoint.
Prior to founding eonBusiness and eonCapital, Dave was a senior executive at EchoStar (DISH Network)
for 12 years, where he was an integral part of the launch of the DISH Network and the initiation of EchoStar's global business expansion. Dave's EchoStar career included a six-year stint in The Netherlands as Managing Director of European, African and Middle Eastern Operations.
Dave earned a B.A. in Communications with a minor in Business Administration at Bethany College and a Masters Degree in International Business Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management.
Frank brings over 25 years of entrepreneurial broad technology experience and has held numerous high level IT positions at previously co-owned eonBusiness Corporation and major corporations including EchoStar (DISH Network)
and CSG Systems
. He was the Director of Technology for EchoStar in the Netherlands and subsequently at the EchoStar's corporate headquarters in Denver, Colorado.
While at eonBusiness, amongst other incubators, Frank co-founded GO TOAST and eonMedia serving a developing need in the international online search marketing and pay-per-click advertising vertical. GO TOAST and eonMedia were acquired in 2003 by aQuantive which was subsequently purchased by Microsoft. As an investor and technology strategist, he provided advice and strategic guidance to eonCapital portfolio companies to help meet their business needs.
Frank currently serves as Vice President of Engineering at TeamSnap, a Boulder, Colorado based innovative developer of sports team management services. In this role, Frank is leading all aspects of software development for the entire company. TeamSnap is an eonCapital portfolio company.
Frank earned a degree in mechanical engineering and studied computer science in the Netherlands. He enjoys spending time with his wife and three boys (who are all fencers), riding his Harley, speed-skating, skiing, developing software and watching Formula 1 racing. He also serves as the Operations Chief for a volunteer organization (ARES) that provides emergency communications to the local Sheriff's office and various hospitals during disasters.
Rob Hooke evaluates, negotiates and manages all eonCapital venture fund investments. Rob has been involved in numerous private investment transactions and other corporate mergers and acquisitions.
Rob is a former partner in the law firm of Gouger Franzmann & Hooke, LLC, where he was lead of the Business Law practice, advising emerging growth high-tech and internet-related businesses. In addition, he has served as legal counsel to larger well-known companies in communications, media and entertainment such as EchoStar (DISH Network)
, Discovery Communications
and XM Satellite Radio
Rob has nearly 20 years of experience working with businesses in private practice and within corporate structures such as eonBusiness
, EchoStar and Request Holdings.
Rob received his B.A. in Political Science (cum laude) from the College of Charleston, M.A. in International Studies from the University of Denver Graduate School of International Studies, and a J.D. from the University of Denver College of Law.
